Vision Statement

It is the vision of the Greenspace Development Committee (GDC) to develop designated greenspace areas into flood tolerant recreational facilities for the use of all citizens and the overall enhancement and improvement of our community.

The Blanchard River can provide opportunities for educational, recreational and economic purposes in the Village of Ottawa and surrounding areas.  GDC believes developing the mitigated flood properties around the Village to promote these opportunities is important for the future of the Village.

It is OUR land!     It is OUR legacy!     It is OUR future!

The Greenspace Development Committee (GDC) was formed after a workshop at the Putnam County Educational Service Center.  This group is working to identify and prioritize potential uses for buyout sites in the Village and develop a strategy to make it all happen.  Rex Center Park | Ark Stage is the first project completed by the GDC & the West End Soccer Fields were just completed in 2020!  Currently, the GDC is working towards developing Arrowhead Park - a highly visible area with informal access to the Blanchard River.

This group normally meets the 1st Wednesday of each month at 2:00 p.m., but due to elevated levels of COVID-19 in our county, the group's meetings are postponed until January 2021.  If you have any suggestions or comments that you would like the committee to address, please contact Tim Macke at tmacke@ottawaohio.us or call the Village office at 419-523-5020.

The committee meeting minutes are available.
